Hi, I just purchased Responsive Menu after your pre-sales answers 🙂
I hope these aren’t silly newbie questions

    1) I need to use a different menu for my desktop menu to the mobile menu, but in desktop settings it wont let me choose which menu to use?
the desktop one does not need to be responsive as I am hiding it on mobile and showing the different mobile menu

    2) I am positioning with the shortcode [responsive_menu_pro] into specific row modules , but I want to position the different desktop menu into a different location also, I cant work out how to do this at all.

I don’t need the header as I already have that designed and laid out using Beaver builder, but specifically the Themer add on which allows custom layouts to be applied site wide or any single page, I just want to position my “desktop menu” into the position I need in my layout.

    Using this on https://papersteps.co.uk

    Hope this is possible
    Many thanks 🙂
    David

    Hi David,

    1. If you want a responsive menu based on breakpoints then this is not possible as the html is shared across all devices.

    2. You can set the desktop positioning to relative which means it will be displayed inline in your html exactly where you have placed it using the shortcode.

    I hope that helps.

Thanks for the quick reply !

Sorry for question 1 I meant – is it possible to use a different menu for mobile a different one for desktop? two separate menus?

My mobile menu has more items and links on it than the desktop one.
In wordpress appearance > Menus, this is where I have created two different menus, one for mobile and one for desktop.

    2) where is the setting to set desktop menu to “Inline”
and do I use the same shortcode for positioning both the mobile and desktop menus?

    Many thanks

    Hey David,

    1. I understand what you want to do but unfortunately because this is a responsive menu, you can’t specify different menus for different devices as they share the same html. It sounds like you are describing a mobile or device specific menu.

Technically you could achieve this using the shortcode and php if statements but I don’t know if you can execute php in the place you are trying to include the shortcode and you would lose all the breakpoints settings.

The above also applies to question 2.

    I hope that helps

Sorry I didn’t reply to this, thanks for the help.
I’m just going to use RM for my mobile and then the built in mega menu in Beaver for the main menu on desktop for now.

    Thanks

    Hey David,

No problem. You could also use the free version of the plugin for the mobile version and the pro for the desktop version.

This way you could specify different menus for each one but you would of course not have the full pro functionality for the free version.

    Just a thought

    Peter
