    Hi Peter,

I’m updating from 3.1.11 to 3.1.13 and the updated fails with:
Update Failed: Could not create directory. responsive-menu-pro/app/Collections

Other plugins updated OK and new ones install OK. File permissions haven’t changed. Any ideas?

I did accidentally try and update my online instance and received:
An error occurred while updating Responsive Menu Pro: Download failed. Unauthorized
so I’m wondering if that might have triggered some sort of block?

    Many thanks,
    Andy

    Hey Andy,

In regards being Unauthorized, can you add the License Key in the admin again, hit Add License Key and check that it is still valid.

If it is, can you then try and update again and see if that fixed it.

In regards it not being able to create the directory, that is a strange one. The update process is all handled by WordPress so I’m not sure why that failed.

What do your folder permissions and ownership looks like on the plugin folder itself?

It is baffling. Licence key is showing as Valid Single Licence.

Permissions are no different to any surrounding plugin folders or the plugin folder itself. SYSTEM and myself have full control (I’m on Windows 10), and as I say, other plugins were able to add/update.

If I remove the plugin and reinstall, will WP remember the menu settings or would I have to start again?

    Hey Andy,

You can happily delete the plugin folder with no problems.

The options are saved in the database so they will be safe.

I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled. Installed OK, but won’t update. Interestingly when I click View Details on the plugin list I get an error in the popup:
An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.
I’m going to set this aside for now since it will probably resolve itself on the live site. I’m putting it down to gremlins in MAMP for now.

    Thanks for your help.

    Hey Andy,

    That is very strange indeed.

I just tried an update here on my dev sites and it worked ok so I’m not sure what it might be.

You can download the latest files directly from your account page on my site if you keep having issues.

Please let me know how you get on.

    Peter
