    Hello everybody,

since yesterday I have the pro version of this plugin. First of all because we wanted the background scrolling to be disabled, which works quite well. But now the smooth scroll effect doesn’t!
I checked the settings in the backend; the smooth scroll effect is set to “on” and I tried different speeds. Actually, the links DO work, but after clicking on the menu item of a specific section, it just jumps there and doesn’t scroll slowly, as it should do.

Before we had the pro version of the plugin we managed this effect with the surbma smooth scroll plugin, but with the pro version of responsive menu this doesn’t work anymore, which is really a pity.

I found the code for the scroll effect in the base.js file, but don’t know what to change to fix this problem… Can you help me with this?

    Thanks a lot in advance!

    Hi there,

As per the Forum Guidelines you haven’t provided me with a site URL so it’s impossible for me to tell.

Does the smooth scrolling work with the Disable Background Scrolling option turned off?

Unfortunately the Disable Background Scrolling conflicts with a few things like this so I would be interested to know.

    Please advise

    Peter

    Hello Peter,

thanks a lot for your response.

I’m really sorry for not giving you our site’s URL, but unfortunately it is still in development and not online yet so I can’t send you a link.

Yes, the smooth scrolling works with the disable background scroll option turns off! Is there any chance to fix this? Because it’s really a pity because we wanted to use both options!

Kind regards and thanks in advance!

    Hey there,

At this moment there is no known fix unfortunately.

I’ve tried many, many times in the past without success. It’s top of my list of things to work out but unfortunately disabling of the body while allowing a fixed element to scroll and not having the page jump to the top is not easy.

    All the best

    Peter

    Hello again,

ah okay now I see, that I got the settings in the backend wrong.

We want the smooth scroll effect NOT in the responsive view, but only in the desktop view, when we have our normal navbar and not the responsive menu of course.
Of course I understand that it is not possible to disable background scrolling but to activate the smooth scroll at the same time!
It was kind of my fault, that I thought activating the smooth scrolling in the backend would have an effect on our non-responsive-menu. Sorry for that!

BUT nevertheless, with the non-pro-version of Responsive Menu we had on our desktop view of the page a smooth scroll effect, created by a plugin called Surbma Smooth Scroll. With the Pro version of Responsive Menu this doesn’t work anymore. Is this a known issue, that the two plugins “can’t handle each other”?

    Thank you!

    Hey there,

It’s not that the two plugins don’t work together specifically, it’s that the Disable Background Scrolling option affects quite a few animation type things like this.

    Hello,

    thanks again for your response.

Well that’s quite a pity, actually… The other thing is now that I want to DISABLE background scrolling. But whenever I go to the settings in the backend and disable it, after saving my changes it is AGAIN ENABLED. I didn’t change anything in the specific code at all, but where does this come from by now? I really don’t get it…

Hope you can help me with this issue!

Sorry, my fault: I meant SMOOTH Scrolling. I wanted to disable smooth scrolling and this doesn’t work, not background scrolling… But same problem here 😉

    Hello Peter,

we managed to solve the problem. But for this we had to deactivate the existing pro version of the plugin and completely delete it from wordpress. After we downloaded it again from our account-page and installed it, the smooth scrolling was deactivated by default. And everything in our normal and our responsive menu worked fine.

Bu after trying it again to use the background scrolling, we had massive problems over and over again: links in our responsive menu and our normal desktop menu didn’t work anymore. So I deactivated this setting again – but still, the same problems remained. So again I had to delete and reinstall the plugin that it worked.

I just wanted you to know this and in my opinion, sometimes it is better not to offer all functions if they don’t work properly. Maybe it would be better to offer just a few but to let them work to 100%. We had a lot of trouble with this one setting, and still after this was deactivated. Furthermore we got the pro version just because we wanted the background scroll to be deactivated. Quite a pity…

So you can close this issue if you want, thank you.

    Hey there,

Thanks for letting me know. Unfortunately it’s not really possible to always offer 100% working options as there will always be a bug somewhere, or a conflict between two settings or something on a particular site that makes something else not work.

Websites are incredibly complex as there are millions of different combinations of factors involved including devices, operating systems, servers, html, css, javascript, themes, other plugins etc.

I can only do my best to have the options working as optimally as possible in as many situations as possible.

    I hope you understand.

    Peter
