Hi,
I have just moved my website hosting from economy to premium. Crazy domains have moved my website across to the new hosting plan and my mobile menu stopped working. Upon investigation I found that “Responsive menu pro” was not activated in my plugins page in WordPress. I tried to activate however clicking the activate link does nothing.
In addition I have updated WordPress to the latest version and am not sure if this has caused the the plugin to deactivate or if the changing of hosting has caused this problem.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated as I want to avoid having to uninstall, reinstall and set it up again from scratch.
Being that it is currently not working, I have re-activated a previous plugin that I was using. I’d much prefer to keep using “Responsive menu pro” as it integrates with my theme better than the old plugin which is now active.Thank you,

Updating WordPress wouldn’t affect anything. The only reason it wouldn’t activate is if your hosting is using a version of PHP below 5.4 however in 2018 I can’t believe any hosting company would still be doing this.
If it was the PHP version you would also get a notice telling you that it is the PHP version causing it to deactivate again.
Are there any errors in any of your error logs that may give some clues?

February 15, 2018 at 9:55 am #68660AnonymousHi Peter,
Thank you for the help with this. I didn’t notice before you pointing it out, but I am getting a notice when I try to activate.
The notice is as follows;
“Responsive Menu Pro requires PHP 5.4 or higher to function and has therefore been automatically disabled. You are still on 5.3.29.
Please speak to your webhost about upgrading your PHP version. For more information please visit this page.”I will contact Crazy domains and have them check this and let you know how it all goes.
Thanks again,
Chris
February 15, 2018 at 11:17 am #68659AnonymousHi Peter,
I have contacted Crazy domains and they have shown me how to select the version of PHP on my server. Im now running version 5.6 and it has resolved the issue. In addition, it has resolved several other issues that were caused by the changeover to the new server.
Thanks again!

No problem, I’m very suprised that there are still hosting providers on PHP 5.3 but it’s good to know!
Glad it solved this and other problems for you.

February 17, 2018 at 2:01 am #68657AnonymousHi Peter,
Regarding the version of PHP, they have a dashboard I can access that has all versions displayed allowing me to switch between any of the available versions. I was just not aware of this. I’m guessing that version 5.3 is the default and that they failed to select the appropriate version for my website when they moved it over to the new server. Thanks again for pointing it out to me as I am new to building websites & WordPress.
I have since picked up one other small issue with Responsive Menu since the change over that I hope you can also help me with. My logo displays perfectly on iPhones and Safari but does not display at all on android phones or Google Chrome. Just to elaborate, this was not an issue prior to moving servers. Originally when buying your plugin it worked perfectly from the get go. For your reference, if you go to my website, you’ll see that I am using a different menu for the header on full screen view (desktop) and using Responsive Menu for a reduced screen (desktop) and for tablet and phone views.
Hope that you can help.
Thank you,
Chris
February 17, 2018 at 3:49 am #68656AnonymousI think I’ve found the problem. I reloaded a lower resolution of the logo and it appears to of fixed the issue on Chrome and Android.
Only problem now is that the lower resolution isn’t as clear as I would like.
Can you tell me what is the best format and resolution to use for my logo please?
February 17, 2018 at 12:27 pm #68655Peter FeatherstoneParticipantHi Chris,
I can’t really advice on what is the best format or resolution for your logo as those are design decisions not plugin related.
I can only advice to read up on graphics on the web, I know png is better for one type and jpg for another but I can’t remember which way round it is off the top of my head. There is a page below which explains the differences:
https://www.labnol.org/software/tutorials/jpeg-vs-png-image-quality-or-bandwidth/5385/
In regards resolution, I would assume the highest resolution is best but you have to balance that against page load times.
Again, this is a general web design question rather than plugin specific.
Hope that helps
